Getting Operational with Android Smart Tap:
- Android users must have the AccessIQ app installed and signed in on their phone.
- User must have an eKey for a lock.
- AccessIQ locks must be running v1.11.81 at a minimum.
- Android phones must be running AccessIQ v4.1 at a minimum.
Present phone to the lock, phone’s screen must be ON for Smart Tap to work.
The “trick” is to align the NFC antenna from the lock with the one from the user’s phone. The lock’s NFC antenna is strongest between the 2 and 5 buttons on the keypad. The location of the NFC antenna on an Android phone differs from phone model and phone manufacturer.
Android user signing into the app the first time will initiate an informational video showing them how to use the Smart Tap feature.
Troubleshooting:
If Smart Tap does not work, it could be because the user hasn’t unlocked their phone or force stopped the app, they signed out, they don’t have an eKey for the lock or NFC has been turned off.
If an Android user force stops the AIQ app, Smart Tap will still work, but the Android OS has to re-launch the app. Depending on how long that takes, the user may need to present their phone a second time to unlock the door.
After an Android phone has been restarted, the phone must be unlocked the first time before Smart Tap will work.
